Hey guys, I’m wondering if anyone has used anything other than the classic APW3++ power supply for a single board miner? Just curious if there is something with a little bit smaller form factor? Or even just a different form factor.
I’ve only used APW3++ or sometimes APW7. I don’t see why you couldn’t use a different psu though as long as it delivers enough juice and your wiring is sized right. If it’s adjustable beyond 12v that would be a nice bonus in terms of performance. I typically do the “easy” potentiometer mod on the APW3++ but having more control would be great.
I had considered using a 1000W ATX power supply at one point just to see, but the APW3 was still cheaper so never made the attempt.
I ran some S9 machines on some old HP server PSUs. The fans are annoyingly loud, so I ended up spending more modding them with new fans that it cost to just get the APW series units.
I didn’t buy from these guys, but this is what I’m talking about: 1200 Watt HP 80+ Platinum 94% Efficiency 110-240V Chain Sync Open Air GPU Mining Rig Power Supply
Hey,
you can use a DC Power Supply like that for S19 Pro for example.
it’s not smaller but can power one hashboard if you have 13,5-14 Volt ≥ 90–100 A PowerSupply
or something like this which is also smaller:
cheers
