Getting Started

Hey all,

New to this but really like the concept of reusing/repurposing heat from miners. I’ve mined in the past but totally hobby and ended up in a state where mining became impossible.

Just discovered this trend and trying to learn more quickly - especially around floor heating and water boilers

Even if we’re technically “losing” some money on hash heating, without mining it’s just sunk cost so in my books a huge win

Can easily see this becoming more common in my area too if I can learn what questions to ask HVAC professionals and then find the right partner

Looking forward to learning more about residential heating setups and how this can be done for my place and my rental

Nice to meet you. Glad you found the forum! There are a handful of great resources out there to learn more about hashrate heating. I authored a comprehensive book on the subject. You can download the free pdf here.

Heck ya, appreciate you for putting this forum out there. Never knew this was a thing until I did.. this aligns with my values and in part, some of my mission within web 3 as a whole too.

Will take a look at the pdf

Would you suggest looking at pre built options like the Heat Core HS05 as the route for someone like me who isn’t currently knowledgeable of custom built routes and overall less experience in this domain to more easily get a plumber to add hashrate boiler to a property?

There aren’t a lot of plug and play solutions out there if you want something more integrated than say, a space heater. It’s totally possible. But what I’ve found is that the people building the mining heaters don’t do the other typical steps of any heating business:

  1. Sizing → 2. Product Recommendation → 3. Installation

When it’s not a space heater you plug in yourself, you need help with step 1 and 3.

Long story short, I’m building my company, Exergy, to solve that problem. Go ahead and shoot us and email and we can help you weigh options. contact@exergyheat.com

I’m a refrigeration service mechanic (commercial hvac primarily) and a newer hash heatpunk. Just wanted to offer my combined interest expertise if you ever have any questions about the hvac side of things.

I’m really curious about miner controls solutions/integrations and what’s available on the miner side for api’s and how to best combine control.

I’ve started to dabble a bit with air cooled heaters and central air duct applications and looking at hydronic more and more. I’m definitely scared to fuck up my miners in all my experimenting though haha

Anyways, hey :waving_hand: , just wanted to connect on here.

Great to have you here @BitcoinHeatEric !

I’d love if you could attend the Heatpunk Summit this coming February! It’s a mini-conference I host with @Cody and @tronsington - aiming to marry the bitcoin mining industry and heating industries. We’ll have mining stack developers and builders in the same room as heating experts like yourself.

Shoot an email to admin@heatpunks.org if you’re interested and I’ll get you on the invite list.
