Infloor heating system

exciting news for me, I was able to find a landed and never used foghashing B6Dpro. after the transaction was finished he even gifted me a 104T S19jpro. this should get my infloor heating system underway in short order.

Background: I have a 2000 sqft newly built and well insulated shop in Ontario canada, and have dreams of heating the floor using a few immersion miners. the new addition takes up a little space but should be an excellent source of heat.

Is Bitcool generally accepted as the best option or are there acceptable alternatives? as a canadian it gets a little more complicated to aquire it. I have a couple electrical designers who have suggested that I should source some transformer oil, but my understanding is that needs to be in a sealed container as it will absorb moisture from the air. love to hear your thoughts, and I will start a thread with some pictures of the build as it comes together.

Happy to hear this. Why is dielectric oil more complicated to get in Canada? I’ve only ever run Bitcool, so I can’t speak to alternatives. Perhaps @Cody or @HashrateHouse has better experience?

Yeah Bitcool is fine, but Fog Hashing sells their own oil that i’ve used and it works fine as well. And @HashrateHouse uses yet anther version of immersion oil that also seems fine, but i can’t remember the brand. I would just stick to one of the major brands and not try to reinvent the wheel

I don’t know about moisture absorption, but I don’t think its an issue.

Is that tank of yours the 6 machine tank?

@Cody , yes I got a 6 machine tank,

@tylerkstevens , it is just always a pain to bring stuff across the border.

Consider getting a few more machines and then downclocking to make them more efficient. 6 s19j pros at half power is like 3 s19xp machines and more reliable. And then you also wont need as much fluid.

Excellent idea. I started under cracking and I’m down to 25 watts / Th. How low should I be able to get these?

found Innovate Garda, made just a couple hours from my house. comes in at about $5/usd/L or about half of bitcool.

a few questions about preparing for immersion, in the process of celaning my S19jpros should I be removing the heatsync, cleaning off the thermal paste and replacing the heatsync? I am hearing that the paste can dissolve into oil and cause potential issues.

hmm this is a really good question. Normally you would just remove the fans, clean it out and dunk it. But lately i’ve been hearing that certain models don’t hold up as well in oil as others. I don’t have the answers, but maybe @HashrateHouse knows a little more.

For me, I had great success with T19’s in oil(two winters) and i’m now on my second winter with S19jpro’s which seem to do fine. I’ve also got a unit with an S19kpro that i started this year, so we’ll see how that holds up

Okay, three s19 J Pros immersed in Oil so far and they are crushing it. 34x60 shop slabs at 20 indoor temperatures at 17 and outdoor is minus 17. Just gave them a clean out with an air compressor followed by isopropyl alcohol.

Any idea what the btu load is? It looks like you have 6 loops of 1/2” pex (I’m guessing less than 300’ per loop) or is there more to the hydronic side that we can’t see? Also what size Heat Exchanger is that?

Your solder work is impeccable. I love how you supported the heat exchanger! I have a Fog Hashing C2 package with a heat exchanger, cooling fan and many gallons of their proprietary oil. Everything still in boxes. Haven’t had time to get it going. I get really excited seeing this. Well done!
